About this landmark

Banj brdo

Banj Brdo is a favorite excursion spot for the people of Banja Luka and one of the city's most visited green oases, also known by its old name Šehitluci. It rises above Banja Luka, and from its summit there is a panoramic view that gives the city a completely new perspective. Dense forest cover, spacious meadows, and winding trails make it ideal for everyday walks as well as long hiking trips.

The heart of this area is Trešnjik – a favorite picnic spot that comes alive in spring and summer, around which many generations of Banja Luka residents have built their memories. The Banja Luka Traverse also runs across Banj Brdo, a hiking and walking route that connects the city neighborhoods with the untouched nature of the Suturlija Canyon and the Vrućica spring. An official lookout has recently been opened at the top, a new postcard view of Banja Luka, carefully integrated into the natural landscape without cutting down any trees. Banj Brdo is not just forest and trails – it is a symbol of the way Banja Luka breathes.
